I produced this direct-to-client campaign for Special Guest serving both as client-facing agency producer and post-producer.
Squarespace was in the process of rebuilding their user interface with a raft of new features and wanted to create what would eventually be a series focusing on “Tastemakers” who use Squarespace to host their websites, and also a more UI-focused spot. The brief developed into something slightly more anthemic than a mere demonstration of how the UI works and became the “Damask” spot above (the new build had the internal codename “Damask” similar to Apple’s use of “Mountain Lion” etc for their new iterations). The two initial Tastemaker videos featured free-climber Alex Honnold and the New York based band St. Lucia, shown below. I supervised the development process, live action shoot, editorial, 2D animation and compositing, color grade, music composition, audio mix and finishing+delivery.
The project was an enjoyable collaboration with the design team at Squarespace and led to a premiere during the world series that we gathered together to watch at one of New York’s finest sports bars.
